Innovation Team of Soil Degradation Control and Quality Improvement
Research contents:
Facing soil degradation such as soil structure deterioration, soil organic matter decline, and soil biological functions reduction under intensified agriculture in China, the Innovation Team of Soil Degradation Control and Quality Improvement focuses on preventing and controlling soil degradation and enhancing soil quality in the view of two dimensions. By taking typical soils in China's major grain-producing regions, including the black soil in Northeast China, the fluvo-aquic soil in North Plain China, the shajiang black soil in Huaibei Plain, and the red soil in the South China, the team aims are to elucidate the key processes of soil degradation, to explore the soil structure formation and stabilization, to reveal soil organic matter transformation and persistent, to enhance soil water and nutrients capacity and utilization efficiency, to innovate the biological regulation theory of soil carbon and nitrogen cycling processes, to develop technologies, products, and supporting equipment for soil structure improvement and organic matter enhancement, and finally to construct regional models for improving soil quality, increasing crop yields, and synergizing ecological protection in major grain-producing regions, in support of the national strategy of "Store grain in the ground, store grain in technology."
Research goals:
The research team works to focus on the forefront of research on controlling soil degradation and quality improvement, developing new theories for soil structure improvement, organic matter accumulation, and biological function cultivation, and innovating new technologies for soil quality improvement coupled with crop yield increase, for serving national food security and sustainable agricultural development.
Research direction:
Prevention and control of arable soil degradation, soil structure improvement, soil organic matter accumulation, and soil biological functions cultivation.
