Liu Xianwu highlighted the importance of leveraging the "China Soil Profile Dataset" to address major national needs, strengthen technological innovation for farmland, enhance the application of data results, expedite the formation of comprehensive soil survey results, plan the construction of major national farmland research facilities in line with international advancements, and promote rapid development in soil science through interdisciplinary advantages.

Since the 1980s, the dataset, presented in the form of county-level soil maps and tables of soil profile physicochemical properties, comprehensively reflects the status of soil resources and quality across China. The research team led groundbreaking efforts in integrating and representing soil spatiotemporal big data integration and expression methods centered on intelligent design, making China the first country among major nations to establish a nationwide, high-precision digital soil dataset with a time series. This dataset offers crucial technological backing for national tasks such as the Third National Soil Survey.
