The Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences — in collaboration with the agricultural technology extension center of Tailai county, Qiqihar city, in China's Northeast Heilongjiang province — recently organized a key training and field observation event. The event took place on Sept 1-4 and it was for a national key research and development project entitled the Efficient Utilization of Nutrient Resources and Synergistic Technology Models for Emission Reduction and Carbon Sequestration (2024YFD1701005). The session took place in the agricultural comprehensive demonstration park of Tailai county. The training was part of Tailai's modern agricultural comprehensive demonstration park field expo, coordinated by the center. It was attended by over 200 representatives of farms, cooperatives, and growers from about 10 local towns.

During the training, Sun Xiaobo, the research fellow and project execution leader from Tailai county's agricultural technology extension center, organized participants for on-site observations of the corn and soybean demonstration areas. Liu Hongfang, an associate research fellow and key member of the project, also participated in the training.

The session showed integrated technology models — including the return of organic materials to the field and nutrient optimizations and enhancements, as well as the demonstration effects on corn and soybeans. It is expected to play a positive role in promoting the application of advanced and applicable technologies.
