On Nov 19, the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) hosted the eighth session of its Cultivated Land Lecture Series. Professor Luo Jiafa, Chief Scientist at the Bioeconomy Science Institute in New Zealand, delivered a keynote address titled " Greenhouse Gas Nitrous Oxide Research in New Zealand Agriculture." The session was chaired by Zhang Jizong, Deputy Director of the Institute, and was attended by nearly 100 staff members and graduate students both online and offline.

During the lecture, professor Luo provided an overview of New Zealand's agricultural greenhouse gas mitigation framework, focusing on soil nitrogen cycling to discuss various emission factors and corresponding mitigation strategies. He also presented research on the use of plant species, such as plantain, for emissions reduction. His insights offer valuable guidance for China's efforts to develop innovative agricultural mitigation technologies and promote sustainable agricultural development.
