By IARRP | Updated: 2024-06-27

On June 18, a delegation led by Hendrik Barkeling, the Consul General of Germany in Shenyang, visited the Experimental Demonstration Base for Soil Health and Increased Grain Production at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) for research purposes. The 24-member delegation included personnel from the German Embassy and consulates in China, representatives from German companies, and agricultural experts. They toured the experimental fields and high-yield demonstration fields at the base.

Researcher Fan Fenliang from the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) gave a detailed presentation regarding the major scientific task "Research and Demonstration of Key Technologies for Cultivating Soil Health and Increasing Grain Production in Black Soil at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences". It included the background of the project, the concept of soil protection, and the research progress in areas such as organic matter decline control, healthy biological cultivation, conservation tillage, and the coordinated improvement of grain production capacity and soil fertility. The delegation shared Germany's current measures for soil protection and productivity enhancement, leading to in-depth exchanges on these topics. This research visit served to promote awareness of the task and expand international communication channels.
