On Oct 29, at the invitation of the smart agriculture team from the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IARRP-CAAS), Prof. Maria Antonia Brovelli, Vice President of the International Society for Digital Earth and a faculty member at Politecnico di Milano, visited the institute for an academic exchange. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Wu Wenbin, Director General of IARRP.

Prof. Brovelli delivered a comprehensive presentation on the latest research progress of the Geomatics and Earth Observation Laboratory (GEOLab), highlighting her team’s advances in land-use remote-sensing monitoring,  and their participation in national and international framework projects and scientific networks within the field of geo-spatial artificial intelligence. Researchers and graduate students from the smart agriculture team, the agricultural remote-sensing team, and the cultivated land quality conservation team shared updates on their recent progress in smart agriculture innovation, agricultural remote-sensing mapping, and gully erosion identification.

Following in-depth discussions, both sides expressed preliminary intention for cooperation in talent development, bilateral collaboration, and the "one map for crops" research initiative. The two parties agreed to jointly explore mechanisms for co-supervising students, establish a long-term cooperative framework, and integrate their respective strengths to advance key technological research. The exchange laid a solid foundation for enhanced collaboration in smart agriculture, remote-sensing monitoring, and related fields.
