To fulfill the Science and Technology Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) -- "Key technologies and core equipment development for obtaining agricultural field parameters in smart agriculture" and the National Natural Science Foundation Project -- "Precise temperature control mechanism in kiwifruit cold chain transportation with the limitation of quality and energy", Prof. Qian Jianping and Dr. Chen Qian -- from the Innovation Team of Smart Agriculture of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) of CAAS -- visited Spain to participate in the 3rd Global Agriculture and Horticulture Conference (AGRI 2023) on Sept 10-18. They conducted in-depth discussions on multiple research directions such as smart orchard, food cold chain logistics, and soil sensing.

The main topics of AGRI 2023 conference included Plant Science and Agriculture, as well as Food Science and Nutrition Research. On Sept 12, Dr. Chen Qian gave an oral report titled "A dynamic shelf-life prediction method considering actual uncertainty: Application to fresh fruits in long-term cold storage" in the Plant Science and Agriculture session. And he introduced the situation of IARRP and Smart Agriculture Team at last. In addition, the delegation was invited by agricultural informatics expert Dr. Jose Blasco to visit the Institut Valencià d'Investigacions Agràries (IVIA). They gained a detailed understanding of the team's research on fruit quality grading equipment, agricultural robot, Hyperspectral-based monitoring equipment of fruit quality, and machine vision-based fruit yield monitoring technology.

The delegation also visited the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), and toured the College of Agricultural Engineering under the guidance of Professor Luis Ruiz Garcia. Prof. Qian Jianping gave an academic presentation on the latest research progress in food cold chain logistics technology, as well as agro-product traceability system. The two parties reached a cooperation intention in scientific research papers, international projects, and other aspects.
