CAAS IARRP makes progress in research on rice production and soil improvement

IARRP | Updated: 2020-10-19

The green manure group of the fertilizer and fertilization technical team of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has developed a technology for utilizing the synergistic effects of Astragalus sinicus and straw for southern rice regions, providing an economical and easy solution to the need for efficient use of nutrient resources for rice fields and promotion of clean production.

Through systematic research, innovative discoveries have led to progress in harnessing Astragalus sinicus and straw synergy to promote rice yield production and soil quality improvement, a more efficient use of nutrient resources in rice fields that reduces rice field methane emission through the use of green manure.

The research results have been published on journals such as Bioresource Technology, Soil&Tillage Research, Geoderma, European Journal of Soil Science, Crop Science and Transactions of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering.

In addition, follow-up research based on the technology obtained funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China .
