On Aug 31, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and China Agricultural Green Development Research Society (CAGDRS) jointly released China Agricultural Green Development Report 2023 in Beijing. Yang Zhenhai, Party Secretary of CAAS, and Chen Bangxun, Director of the Development and Planning Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Yang Zhenhai emphasized that we should uphold the concept of green development, vigorously promote green technological innovation and application, unify the development of new productive forces with the protection of the ecological environment, and strive to cultivate new formats and models for the green transformation of agriculture. It is necessary to continuously strengthen collaborative innovation in the field of agricultural green development, accelerate the formation of a systematic, professional, and group-oriented innovative pattern, establish a deep integration mechanism for the allocation of technological resources that comprehensively enhances the efficiency of scientific and technological innovation of agricultural green development.

Ye Yujiang, vice-president of CAAS, presented China Agricultural Green Development Report 2023. The report systematically reflects the overall level, major actions, and key achievements of China's agricultural green development from 2022 to 2023 from multiple perspectives including production, lifestyle, ecology, and technology. The report indicates, since 2015 to 2022, the national agricultural green development index increased from 75.19 to 77.90, showing a steady improvement in the level of agricultural green development, significant achievements in piloting agricultural green development, and effective technological innovation support for agricultural green development.

The meeting was organized by the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning of CAAS and China Agricultural Green Development Research Society. Yu Xinrong, Chairman of China Agricultural Green Development Research Society, provided comments on the report. Zhang Hecheng, former CAAS Party Secretary, and Xu Mingang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, were invited to deliver keynote speeches.

Officials from relevant departments and bureaus of MARA, leaders of relevant departments of CAAS, and representatives from enterprises an research institute participated in the meeting.
