In November 2015, the Sino-German Seminar on Soil Science and Soil Protection was held in Beijing, at which Wu Kongming, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Ursula Becker, Representative of GIZ, signed the Implementation Agreement on German-Sino Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation Platform. Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Affairs was formerly known as The Ministry of Agriculture) Zhang Taolin and German Parliamentary State Secretary Peter Bleser took part in the unveiling ceremony of the German-Sino Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation Platform.

The platform aims to promote and strengthen applied research and deal with agricultural issues related to China and Germany. Under the framework of the Sino-German Agricultural Center ,DCZ, it designs and coordinates research activities and programs in agricultural science and technology cooperation between the two sides, and participates in the establishment of the strategic goals, core content, strategic steps and supporting measures of the cooperation to ensure the long-term and stable development of Sino-German international cooperation in multiple dimensions.
