ADB Yangtze Project (L3740-PRC) "1+N" construction seminar held in Beijing

On April 28, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) loaned Agricultural Comprehensive Development of the Yangtze Green Ecological Corridor Project (L3740-PRC) "1+N" Knowledge Sharing and Communication Platform Construction Seminar, led by the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), was successfully held in Beijing.  

Leaders from the Department of Farmland Enhancement of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the ADB, IARRP, as well as expert teams from six universities including Central University of Finance and Economics, Capital Normal University, Hunan Agricultural University, Sichuan Agricultural University, Southwest University, and Guizhou University, and over 300 project management personnel attended the meeting. The seminar was chaired by the project leader/chief, professor Yin Changbin at IARRP.

The seminar emphasized that the ADB Yangtze Project's "1+N" platform construction aims to summarize the construction models and practices of the ADB Yangtze Project, refine practical experiences in modern agricultural engineering construction, agricultural non-point source pollution prevention and control, ecological protection, and institutional capacity building in the project area. These experiences will be disseminated and shared with ,the domestic and international public comprehensively enhancing the project's knowledge management capabilities and added value. With the theme of "Strengthening the construction of the ecological corridor and promoting agricultural green development," this seminar aligns with the national strategy of "Great Protection of the Yangtze River," exploring new paths to solidify the foundation of agricultural development and proposing a new model to effectively promote the integrated green development of agriculture production, life, and ecology. This seminar is expected to play an important role in promoting these initiatives.

The seminar featured special presentations by Vice Chairman and Secretary-General Liu Beihua of the China Association for Agricultural Green Development and Professor Jin Shuqin, Deputy Director of the Rural Economic Research Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Mrs. Liu delivered a presentation on "China's Experience and Models of Agricultural Green Development", while Prf. Jin focused on "International Experience in Agricultural Green Development and Its Implications,” summarizing both domestic and international experiences in agricultural green development and proposing pathways suitable for China's national conditions and agricultural situation.

The project leader, Prof. Yin Changbin, provided a comprehensive overview of the basic practices, progress, and achievements of the ADB Yangtze Project's "1+N" platform construction. Experts from the sub-platforms presented detailed reports on progress, model summaries, and future work plans. Leaders and experts in attendance engaged in extensive discussions   regarding the construction of the ADB Yangtze Project's "1+N" platform, affirming the platform's construction concept, operational management mode, and practical effectiveness. They pointed out that the completion of the "1+N" platform will provide a more diverse channel for the widespread dissemination of knowledge products such as experiences, practices, technologies, and models of the ADB Yangtze Project.

The seminar emphasized the key focus of future work. Firstly, it emphasized the importance of continuing to enhance the summarization and promotion of technical models and best practices in the construction of the Yangtze River Project. This effort aims to drive sustained output of project achievements, continuously improve platform content, and expand the project's influence.  Secondly, it highlighted the need to employ various methods and channels to effectively promote the platform, ensuring that a wider audience, especially farmers and the general public, are informed about the project's outcomes. This approach will facilitate the transformation and application of knowledge products.
