APSCO delegation visits IARRP, CASS

A delegation of 17 people led by Yu Qi, secretary-general of the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO), visited the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) on Aug 31.

Hao Weiping, deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation of CASS attended the meeting, and Wu Wenbin, executive director general of the IARRP presided over it.

Hao, on behalf of CAAS, welcomed the visit of APSCO representatives and hoped the two sides could carry out extensive cooperation in more projects, education, and international matters in the future.

Aziz Koru, deputy director general of the Department of External Relations and Legal Affairs of APSCO outlined the organization's structure, multilateral and bilateral cooperation mechanisms and strategic planning.

Gao Maofang and Yu Qiangyi, associate research fellows from the IARRP, gave professional reports.

Yu Qi spoke highly of the international cooperation achievements of CAAS in agricultural science and technology, and appreciated the international cooperation progress and results of the IARRP in agricultural remote sensing research and application as well as in digital agriculture.

Yu said more efforts will be made to help CAAS conduct training of agricultural and rural modernization and information technologies in APSCO member countries and to facilitate publicity about technological achievements.

Yu also invited IARRP staff to visit APSCO headquarters.

Wu Wenbin agreed with Yu and said the IARRP stands ready to provide APSCO member countries with cutting-edge agricultural technology support and services, and hopes to enhance mutual understanding with APSCO, expand cooperation fields, and promote common development through cooperation and exchanges.

APSCO is an intergovernmental international organization consisting of United Nations member states in the Asia-Pacific region. Established in 2008, it is the second regional intergovernmental space cooperation organization registered with the United Nations after the European Space Agency.

The organization aims to promote multilateral cooperation in space science, technology research and development and application among member states. It develops paired mutual assistance among member states, improves member states' space capabilities, promotes win-win cooperation, and accelerates the peaceful use of outer space by mankind.
