Updated: 2022-04-22

The Key Laboratory of Arable Land Quality Monitoring and Evaluation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China was established in 2022 as a specialized laboratory under the land conservation discipline cluster. The laboratory currently has 28 researchers, including one scholar from the National Ten-thousand Talents Program and three scientists from the Modern Agricultural Industry Technology System. The laboratory is in charge of the Farmland Ecosystem National Observation and Research Station and 37 long-term observation and research stations conducted by the National Soil Quality Data Center.

The laboratory will focus on the national strategic demand of improving arable land quality. With the goal of continuously improving arable land productivity and addressing key scientific and technical concerns in terms of arable land quality monitoring and construction, the laboratory conducts experiments and research on theory and technologies innovation of arable land quality monitoring and evaluation, evolution characters and driving factors of arable land quality, mechanisms and regulation approaches of arable land quality degradation. The research aims to further enhance the scientific research ability in the field of arable land quality monitoring and evaluation, and provide scientific and technological support for the improvement of arable land quality and the high-quality and green development of agriculture.
